Russell's interest in art began at a young age, as he idolised his father, and this interest soon blossomed into a passion. During his school years, he pursued his passion by studying and completing a Certificate 3 and 4 in visual arts. Russell went on to study art as a major at university. Later on, he became interested in tattooing, particularly in realism styles. The idea of his art being a permanent part of someone's life appealed to him greatly. After completing his tattoo apprenticeship, Russell became a senior artist and worked in several studios. He has mentored four apprentices during his six-year career. Russell has built strong relationships with his customers, and his friendly banter and humor have made him a beloved figure in the tattoo community, along with his beautiful artwork.
